Effective Tooth Brushing Technique


A proper brushing technique is first step for maintaining healthy teeth and gums. And also it helps to minimise the risk of decay and gum disease, the major causes of tooth loss. 

Few things you need to take care before brushing.
1)Use soft bristle toothbrush.
2)Use fluoridated toothpaste.
3)Change your brush every three to four months.
4) Brush your teeth twice a day one in morning one at night before going to bed for 2 to 3 minute.
5)Take pea sized toothpaste for brushing your teeth.
6)Always brush your teeth using toothpaste and toothbrush only.

Brushing technique
1) Back teeth
2) Upper front
3) Lower front 
4)Upper front from inside 
5)Lower front from inside 
6)Platforms i.e. chewing surface of teeth 
7)back teeth from inside 

                                       
1)Back Teeth-First close your teeth & use circular motion.

2)For upper Front Teeth- Place your brush at junction of gums and teeth give a little pressure so that bristle will be angulated at 45 degree. Then move it Downward.& you need to repeat the strokes gently.




3)For lower Front Teeth- Place your brush at junction of gums and teeth give little pressure so that bristle will be angulated at 45 degree then move it upward. You need to repeat the strokes gently.

4)For Upper Front Teeth inside surface- Hold brush vertically place at the junction of gum and teeth apply gentle pressure so that bristle will be angulated at 45 degree then move in downward. Repeat the strokes gently.



5)Lower front teeth from inside surface-Hold brush vertically then place at the junction of gum and teeth apply little pressure so that bristle will be angulated at 45 degree and move it outward, upward direction. Repeat the strokes gently.




6) Platforms- Clean the platforms that is chewing surface of your teeth.




7)Back teeth from inside- Clean back teeth from inside by side to side movement. 




This is the brushing technique you need to follow two times daily for effective brushing. Along with brushing Tongue Cleaning is also most important thing. You can clean your tongue by tongue cleaner or you can use back surface of your brush.
